Art Scholarships and Fellowships



OBJECTIVES

The National Greeley Art Exhibit and Sale (NGAE) offers scholarships and fellowships to encourage the arts in Weld County and to promote artists in the enhancement of their individual skills and artistic aspirations. All applications for Scholarships and Fellowships must be completed and submitted to the National Greeley Art Exhibition, P.O. Box 1972, Greeley, CO. 80632, no later than Friday, March 8th, 2019.

Scholarships

In 2019, the NGAE Art Scholarships will be awarded at a minimum of $1000 each.

The Scholarship(s) are for college-enrolled/college-bound residents of Weld County under the age of twenty-five who are studying the visual arts and seeking help in financing their education. The scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis; chosen by a Panel, appointed by the Chairperson of the NGAE, and comprised of at least three diverse members of the NGAE Board and/or Volunteer Committee. Applicants must complete the NGAE Application form, submit a portfolio of 3 to 6 electronic images of examples of their work, and provide a statement identifying where and how the money will be spent.

CONGRATULATIONS! The 2019 NGAE Art Scholarships have been awarded to Sarah Bedell and Rowan Dunning. After careful review of their applications and submissions, each of these talented young women were each chosen to be awarded with one of our $1,000.00 Scholarships! We will be formally presenting the Scholarships at our Awards Ceremony on Thursday, October 3rd from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, and we hope you will join us! Thank you to everyone who showed interest in our Scholarship Program, and all of us at the NGAE cannot wait to see what the future holds for all of these artists!  Take a look at the Art from our talented Scholarship winners; 

Sarah Bedell

Sarah will be graduating from University High School in May of 2019, and intends to pursue a degree in Art or Film Studies here in Colorado. Her career goals include an Art Director or Production Designer!

Rowan Dunning

Rowan will be graduating from University High School in May of 2019 with a Performing Arts Pathway Diploma. She plans to attend AIMS in the Fall, enrolling in classes surrounding the Graphic Arts, Rich Media, Video Editing, Effects Production, and Business Management!

Fellowships

In 2019, the NGAE Art Fellowship will be awarded at a minimum of $500 each.

These fellowships will be granted to working artists who are over 18 and residents of Weld County seeking to enhance their art career. The fellowship provides funds for specific projects, materials, supplies and/or support services that will help develop the artist’s growth in their field. All artists who have not received NGAE fellowships within the last three years are eligible to apply. The fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis; chosen by a Panel, appointed by the Chairperson of the NGAE, and comprised of at least three diverse members of the NGAE Board and/or Volunteer Committee. Applicants must complete the NGAE Application form, submit a portfolio of 3 to 6 electronic images of examples of their work, and provide a statement identifying where and how the money will be spent.

After careful review of her application and submissions, this Artist was chosen to be awarded with our $1,000.00 Fellowship! Kari Tamblyn

Kari graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Visual Arts, and has been very active in the Greeley community. She has been involved with the Boys & Girls Club of Weld County, the Tointon Gallery at the Union Colony Civic Center, Greeley’s Arts Picnic, and UNC’s Annual Art Salon held at Zoe’s Cafe. Kari has had the opportunity to work in galleries including work such as Johanna Mueller’s Paths and Passage, Tom Geier’s Fixation, and Armando “Artmando” Silva’s Corazon.

Her artwork has been in over a dozen Exhibitions since, and the NGAE is excited to see Kari’s next performing art exhibit! She plans to involve the community, by showing us the amount of plastic waste that is created through single use plastic! It will be hands-on and there is an opportunity to bring art home with you! We’re very excited! Join us Thursday, October 3rd as we present Kari with her Fellowship Award and $1,000 to help her with this project!

ACCOUNTABILITY

All recipients of NGAE Scholarships must provide verification of enrollment in an art program and that their award was used as described in their application. All recipients of both the Scholarships and Fellowships are requested to give back to NGAE by volunteering at the next year’s event and providing written communication outlining how this award helped you in your art development.
